PROJECT OVERVIEW.
During my early days as a designer, I worked with some leaders at The Family Church where I was on staff at the time, to create a logo for the Young Adults ministry. They wanted it to be reminiscent of a group of people coming together for one common goal. To navigate the journey of life with people alongside them.
As a novice designer, I began by sketching countless logos, icons, and shapes that could convey the message. (Seriously, I had hundreds of sketches.) When I presented the sketches to the team, I highlighted my preferred designs. However, to my surprise, they selected a small, sketch that I had done off in the bottom corner of the page. Roughly, a 10mm sloppy sketch.
This project taught me to trust my instincts, select just a few sketches to propose, and the importance of simplicity in logo design.
